Daily News App

A news app for busy Indian millennials. Interviews shaped it: less clutter, fewer notifications, more of what you care about.

Context

The brief: a news app for 23 to 38 year olds that fits how they actually read.

What I learned

Interviews were clear. 68% prefer reading news in an app. Most get 10 to 20 minutes a day, often on the move or late at night. They want news picked for them, but they still want to know what’s breaking. And they want to save and share.

What drives them away? Cluttered screens, ads that block the story, and notifications that never stop. A review of Indian Express, Times of India and NDTV found each fell short somewhere.

What I did

A persona and affinity map turned those findings into a feature list. Onboarding lets readers choose their interests, so the home screen mixes trending and personal stories. Articles show reading time up front, with save and share one tap away. Readers control notifications, font size and dark mode. I took it from wireframes to high-fidelity designs.
